The Stratford Police Service announced the launch of Project 529 Bike Registration Program and Bike Sale set for this Saturday, May 28th at the Stratford Police Station at 17 George Street West.

The 529 Garage Program, was started back in 2013 by it’s founder after their bicycle was stolen. The program aims to be a system that lets riders, shops, police, schools and cities around the world to better organize against criminals.

The Police say the goal of the program locally is to reduce bike theft in the community and increase return rates for those bikes stolen and get them back to their owners.

They add that without community engagement this goal will be difficult to reach.

The program launches Saturday at 9:30am. The bike sale runs from 10 am until 1pm in a silent bid format. There will be approximately 30 new-to-you bikes up for sale.

Bike owners can drop by to register their bicycles for free, can register from home at the link below. They can also download the Project 529 App and register it from anywhere.

The Stratford Police recognize the Optimist Club of Stratford for their support of the program.
