Turns out you can add politics into sports.
After news came this weekend the OHL season would proceed without body checking from Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Sport. Premier Doug Ford chimed in the following day to say he’ll be looking into other options to allow the league to go on with the season where they at least allow body checking.
There is a lot of chatter of a non-contact season will do more harm than good for junior players who would take their talents elsewhere to a league with contact.
