Pope Francis, mostly known for his non traditional take on being a pope and also making history for delivering an apology for the Roman Catholic Church’s role in the Canadian residential school abuses against Indigenous People has died at the age of 88.
Pope Francis, dubbed as the Peoples Pope for his down to earth persona was pronounced dead at 7:35am with the bells tolled in the church towers across Rome.
Pope Francis who had part of his right lung removed due to a pulmonary infection when he was young had been suffering from respiratory infections who was admitted to hospital in February but was able to recover.
Pope Francis’ last appearance was on Easter Sunday to bless thousands of people at St Peters Square.
