A new plaque has been marked in Fergus to recognize Richard Pierpoint.
The ceremony was held on Sunday by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada and Parks Canada for the national historic significance of Richard Pierpoint.
Parks Canada says Pierpoint is one of courage and tragedy and has become a well known example of the efforts and challenges faced by Black Loyalists living in Upper Canada in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s.
The plaque will be installed at the Pierpoint Fly Fishing Nature Reserve in Fergus.
