MPP for Perth-Wellington Randy Pettapiece in a release has pointed towards the provincial budget supporting the local tourism and hospitality.

The budget will include a $100 million dollar fund, the Tourism and Hospitality Small Business Support Grant. The grant will provide $10,000-$20,000 grants for small businesses such as hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, travel agencies and summer camps.

Pettapiece praises local tourism and economic development agencies and municipal staff for their work on the issue the tourism industry faces.

On March 4, Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson, St. Marys Mayor Al Strathdee, and Perth County Warden Jim Aitcheson formally appealed to the government to extend support to the sector.

To qualify for the Tourism and Hospitality Small Business Support Grant, businesses must see a drop of 20 percent revenue and have less than 100 employees.
