Ashley Fox is once again representing the Liberal Party for Perth-Wellington in the provincial election.

Fox is a registered practical nurse who grew up in Harriston and lives in Palmerston.

Fox who ran in 2022 says she was proud of the campaign they ran and the issues they still saw then are almost the same this time around.

Fox who’s been knocking on doors says the number one issue they hear is around healthcare, adding while she’s heard the positive stories of the work nurses and doctors are doing, there is always room to improve.

“Our party is looking at rebuilding and modernizing the healthcare system which includes primary care, a focus on family doctors but also recognizing it will be a team model, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health. We all have a seat at the table and I think we could all do better in terms of how we are going to support our communities.” said Fox.

Fox says addressing housing is another hot button topic she’s hearing and says its all about all levels of government working together.

“Working collaboratively so the province has not been a key partner so to speak with the federal government and municipalities and we’ve heard that actively across the rural parts of Perth-Wellington and the urban parts…the province also has not been prioritizing our housing. When you look at the tracking and I think its meeting 1.5 million the province wants for housing its also including long term care beds and student housing and while both are needed, I don’t think that necessarily is being realistic to the public as to how many homes we’re actually building.”

More conversations with candidates are still being had, including in Listowel at the Ag Hall Friday night.
