The Perth East West Perth Fire Department shared a lighthearted way to check the age of smoke alarm in your home.
In the post they say to compare it to the new recycled fibre lid for a Tim Horton’s coffee.
They say if you remove the lid and compare and see it is a similar color to your smoke alarm it’s time for a change in device.
The department says the life span of a smoke alarm is 10 years or less.
If your area doesn’t use the new lids yet you can use the picture above for comparison.
If your smoke alarm is the same colour as the new #TimHortons coffee lids it's time to change them
-enjoy your coffee
-remove the lid
-compare lid with your smoke alarm
-if the alarm isn't lighter replace, 10 yrs or less#environmentallyfriendly #firesafety
