Perth East West Perth Fire Chief Bill Hunter shared an advisory to wood stove owners.
In it they say that modern, well designed wood burning stoves are ok to use in rural areas; but they ask that you don’t store logs right around the stove.
The risk is it could set your house on fire.
The recommendation is to store your firewood outside and away from the home.
Cover it to protect it from rain or snow and only bring small amounts into the home when you need it and store it away from the fireplace or other sources of heat.
