Perth County council and staff are in Ottawa this week as part of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference.
The conference is welcoming over 3000 participants representing 444 municipalities with Perth County looking to have two meetings with the province.
Among the meetings includes with Dave Smith, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance to discuss farm property tax reduction and the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund and David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development to chat about workplace safety and insurance board claims administration for schedule 2 employers.
Perth County’s delegations were focused on the increased financial burden on rural municipalities due to reduction in OMPF transfers as well as advocating for increased efficiencies and cost fairness for Schedule 2 employers.
