Perth County Paramedics are expanding distribution of lifesaving kits when someone is experiencing an overdose.

A new agreement with Huron Perth Public Health has now expanded to allow paramedics in Perth County to distribute Naloxone Kits to people at risk and their loved ones.

Paramedics have been administering naloxone as treatment to temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

In 2021 across Huron-Perth, opioids caused 71 emergency department visits, 22 hospitalizations and 12 deaths.

Perth County Paramedic Chief Mike Adair says the expanded access to naloxone will allow paramedics to distribute them when on calls and help increase awareness and save more lives.
