The Perth County OPP is investigating a rental property in West Perth.
Police started the investigation yesterday afternoon just before 12:30 pm after receiving reports of two people attempting to rent a house in Mitchell.
After completing the initial application, the unknown suspect requested security deposit, first and last month rent and utilities.
The victims sent a total of $2,700 to the suspect.
Police offered some times to would be renters including to meet the person at the prospective residence and to be suspicious if request for payment are made prior to signing a contract, especially if asked to act immediately. The investigation is continuing.
