Perth County OPP spent Thursday morning out across the area taking part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
Starting at Food Basics in Listowel, OPP along with Special Olympics Ontario ran from Listowel over to Mitchell and making a final stop in Sebringville all while collecting donations for Special Olympics Ontario.
Perth County OPP Sergeant & Torch Run Coordinator Barry Cookson says in the past the community has stepped up showing their support as they stop and see officers making the trek.
“We do find a lot of people are very generous and we do appreciate the public assistance in helping us fundraise. Its a very good community effort on behalf of the citizens of Listowel, Mitchell and Sebringville who do recognize that.” said Cookson.
Last year at the bbq for the torch run, Perth County OPP was able to raise of $1700 for Special Olympic Athletes.
