Perth County is considering options to install automated cameras on school bus stops which would take snapshots of vehicles who pass by illegally.
Council heard from John Chapman who owns Newry Coach Lines in Atwood who spoke in favour of the cameras to ensure students remain safe when boarding and departing buses.
Chapman says since Thursday, they’ve seen eight vehicles blow past stopped school buses with flashing lights alone this week, in two instances with children on the road.
Council will have staff prepare a report and have it ready for council before students will return to school in the fall this year.
