Perth County through Warden Rhonda Ehgoetz announced the death of former Warden and Council Member Elsie Karges today.
In the statement they say that she was the first woman to sit on Listowel Council from 1972 to 1988 and that she was elected the first female Warden of Perth County in 1982.
Elsie was a long-time resident of North Perth and was an active community volunteer and conservationist.
They add on behalf of County Council and Staff they want to offer their sincere condolences to her family and friends.
In honour of her life & public service to the County, and when weather allows, the Courthouse flag will be lowered until the day of her funeral on January 20th.
