Perth County employees now have the right to “disconnect” and recharge mentally from work under a new policy.

The province introduced legislation last October which allows workers to sit back and improve their mental health, allowing them to have the right to not do things such as answer emails or take phone calls during their time disconnected.

The right however does not overrule job requirements for emergency personal or frontline workers.

County officials say standard operating procedures will go along with the new policy so its understood clearly.
