Perth County Adopts Joint Accessibility Plan

Perth County has adopted its Joint Accessibility Plan.

The draft of the plan has been approved by all lower tier municipalities and was brought to the County level on April 6th to get approved and have a final copy sent back to the municipalities.

The multi year plan succeeds the 2018-22 accessibility plan with new outlines to be a continued commitment from Perth County to create an accessible organization by identifying, removing and preventing barriers for people with disabilities for the next 5 years.

The public was invited to provide their thoughts which Rachel Cannon, Legislative Assistant for Perth County says the previous plan shows Perth County is a place for everyone to live comfortably.

“The majority of these survey answers were positive between yes and somewhat. This just proves that our accessibility initiatives and what we’re doing at the County level are helping people live more comfortably and feeling more included in the community.” said Cannon.

Major highlights for the 2023-27 plan includes Communication, Education, Diversity and Inclusion, Community Leadership and Age Friendly Focus.
