North Perth was updated on the Joint Accessibility Plan during Monday’s council meeting.

The plan itself works with other municipalities across Perth County to help meet its obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

The public was invited in January to provide their thoughts on making the area more accessible.

Rachel Cannon, the Legislative Assistant with Perth County says with the help of the plan they saw some accomplishments be made across the area over the past several years.

“We’ve seen some great progress in terms of accessibility for meetings and court services using technology and process upgrades. Of course with PC Connect we had some accessibility there as we were making sure it aligned with the transportation standard.” said Cannon.

From the survey, 22 responded with 29% coming from North Perth with 2 voters being out of Perth County though it was noted they either work in the area or have desires to move to Perth County.
