The cost for new ambulances in Perth County has gone well beyond what was previously approved by council earlier this year.
The planned replacement for two ambulances is now going to add an extra $60,000 which previously saw council approve in July two ambulances at a cost of $215,000 plus $17,000 for modifications.
Crestline Coach has been where the purchase and work is coming from which Mike Crawley, Deputy Chief of Operations for Paramedic Service’s says they don’t really have many other options.
“There’s only two ambulance manufactures certified to build in Ontario. That’s Crestline and Demers and they happen to be owned by the same company. There really isn’t any other options.” said Crawley.
Council accepted the cost rise, giving approval to pony up the extra funds to ensure new ambulances would arrive in Perth County.
