The PC Connect Rural Route is coming to an end as of April 1st.
The pilot which launched in November 2020 was funded from the Ontario Community Transportation Grant Program where in December was decided to scrap the route given low ridership and issues with the budget.
A discussion was made about keeping the route though the cost was high for the year and potentially some growth in 2026.
Justin Dias, Economic Development Officer says the report they brought forward mainly just revolves around what other options for transportation exist once the route ends.
“A similar analysis had been done before the CT grant to understand what options existed so this is just an update to outline for residents to know what transportation options exist once PC Connect’s rural route is discontinued” said Dias.
The soon to be discontinued rural route provided over 16,000 rides connecting Stratford, Milverton, Newton, Listowel, Atwood, Monkton and Mitchell.
