Parkinson’s Society Raises $16,000 in Fergus Walk

Proceeds to be used for treatment for Parkinson's Disease

The Parkinson’s Society of Wellington-Dufferin raised a total of $16,000 during their recent Walk for Parkinson’s event held in Fergus.
This years walk was able to be held in person over last year where they made the decision to go entirely virtual for the walk.
Proceeds raised from various groups helps those suffering from Parkinson’s with a method of treatment known as deep brain stimulation.
This works as probes are connected to areas in a patient’s brain and to a transmitter embedded on their chest. This treatment emits pulses to the brain and helps reduce tremors associated with Parkinson’s.
In a release CEO of the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario, Shelley Rivard thanked everyone who was able to put their best foot forward for Parkinson’s Disease this year.
