Parade routes in Stratford will see a change.
Council voted 5-3 to support the staff recommendation to keep the annual Canada Day parade to just local roads and away from connecting link highways which includes Huron Street, Erie Street and Ontario Street.
Staff made the recommendation as construction continues on Huron Street, citing safety factors to move parades and events this year with the exception of Remembrance Day.
The Stratford Kinsmen club had requested council to vote against the report, saying moving them away from downtown risks killing their events.
