Outbreak Declared Over at Seaforth Community Hospital

A gastrointestinal outbreak at the Seaforth Community Hospital has been declared over.

The outbreak was confirmed by Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance on April 27th which was identified as Norovirus.

Commonly known as the stomach flu the virus causes an infection in the stomach and intestines.

Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety and Infection Control says the impact of patients, their families and health care team during an outbreak is significant.

Visitors are still being reminded of the importance of hand washing when spending time with their loved ones in a hospital environment and they should not visit if they don’t feel well.
