The Online Fundraising Platform GoFundMe announced Friday that they have closed the fundraising page for the Freedom Convoy currently occupying Downtown Ottawa.
The move comes after evidence was presented that changed what the platform believed was a fundraiser into what was shown as an occupation.
The platform is now permitting refund requests until February 19th.
The move removes the 10 million dollars that participants in the demonstration were planning on using for fuel and more to return home.
The GoFundMe, prior to it’s closure, was the second largest campaign in Canada behind the Humboldt Broncos bus crash back in 2018.
