OPP are warning farmers of ongoing farm machinery sale scams now making their rounds online.
The scam has fraudsters posing as sellers in the United States selling farm equipment at deals too good to be true being listed way below market value luring buyers out who can’t resist the bargain.
OPP say with scams of any kind if it sounds too good to be true, it likely is and to verify any buyer or seller you see online and to do reverse image searches on equipment.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says in 2022, victims lost $8.9 million to merchandise related fraud.
