Wellington County OPP are urging residents in Centre Wellington to be alert after finding an active fraud which has taken thousands of dollars from 3 victims.
Police say a scammer is contacting victims posing as a grandson saying they’ve been involved in a car accident with a pregnant woman in Guelph and needs four to seven thousands dollars for bail.
The scammer says a bail bondsman will be visiting their home to collect the money.
Its important to note Canada does not have a bail insurance system and there is no such thing as a bail bondsman in Canada.
Police say the suspect is a black man with an average build and average height with dreadlocks. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
