OPP across the western region are reminding snowmobilers to stay sober.
With an increase in snowfall, more riders are hitting trails and so are more impaired snowmobilers. Inspector Shawn Johnson says, there is no change in punishment, an impaired snowmobiler is an impaired driver and will be treated as such.
“The penalties are the exact same. License suspensions are the same, fines are the same. Consequences of personal injury or death can be the same.” said Johnson
OPP will continue to monitor the trails and stop riders if they are not following the rules to ensure the safety of all.
