The Ontario Provincial Police responded to a total of five road fatalities over the Thanksgiving long weekend during enforcement’s on highways and roads as part of Operation Impact.
Police laid a total of 6026 charges over the four day safety initiative which focused on aggressive drivers, motorists under the influence, distracted drivers and those not buckled up.
Aggressive drivers topped the list with 4595 speeding charges and 109 racing.
Other offenses include 269 seat belts, 102 impaired driving and 94 distracted driving.
The total number of fatalities on OPP roads is now at 218.
