OPP Reminding Residents of E-Bike Rules

West Region OPP are reminding the public of the rules and regulations around e-bikes before you take the road or trails this summer.

E-bikes have grown in popularity in the region and OPP are reminding residents e-bikes or power assisted bicycles are subject to Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act and Ontario Regulation.

Those who want to operate an e-bike they must be equipped with operable pedals, have a maximum assisted speed of 32km/hour, weigh no more than 120kg including the battery and meet all Ontario equipment standards.

Riders must also be at least 16 years of age, wear an approved helmet and follow the same rules of the road as cyclists.
