OPP remind residents that Construction Lights are still traffic lights

Same tickets apply for not stopping at red signal at temporary traffic lights

Construction in North Perth is underway and the Perth County OPP want to ensure drivers understand the laws surrounding portable traffic lights.

Any light erected at construction zones, such as those at Line 84 between Road 164 (Highway 23) and Tremaine Avenue South are still considered traffic lights in the Highway Traffic Act.

As such, drivers must stop if the light is red, and wait for the light to turn green before proceeding.

A driver who fails to stop at a red light could face a fine of $325 and 3 demerit points.

The Perth County OPP want to ensure the safety of those working at road construction areas, and will continue to patrol these areas and issue tickets if applicable.
