OPP released their numbers from the long weekend with Operation Impact. An increased presence of officers were on the roads during Thanksgiving, enforcing speed limits and various safety measures.
A total of 6,246 traffic related charges were laid. 4,771 of them being speeding charges, 104 distracted driving, 92 alcohol/drug related and 144 failure to wear a seat belt.
There was 4 fatal collisions killing 5 people over the long weekend, including 2 children.
