OPP is shedding light on road, off-road and boating relating fatalities over the last decade for which lifesaving and protective equipment could have saved many lives.
Between 2012 and 2021, OPP have investigated 238 boating deaths with only 35 of those who died were wearing a life jacket.
Over the same period, 186 people were killed in off road vehicle incidents with 86 of the deceased not wearing a helmet and 3174 people who have died on OPP patrolled roads over the past 10 years have seen 542 fatalities were found of those not wearing a seat belt.
OPP officers will be ramping up enforcement and education regarding the use of lifesaving equipment and ensure Ontarians travel safely on and off the road for the Canada Day long weekend.
