OPP across the West Region are going forward with a new school bus safety campaign.
Taking the name Safety Stops Here, police are targeting unsafe drivers in an effort to combat the recent spike of school bus crashes.
The campaign runs until May 15th with detachments across the West Region conducting enforcement blitzes for school bus runs using marked and unmarked cruises.
Officers will also be selecting a route and follow the school bus to its destination.
Police will focus on drivers who fail to stop for school buses with their stop arms activated as well as motorists engaging in unsafe driving behaviors such as unsafe passing, speeding and following too closely.
