The County of Wellington OPP are setting up a safe place for the public to do their in person transactions that may start online.

The initiative called Project Safe Trade started in Essex County in 2016. Since that time the project has expanded to at least a dozen other OPP detachments across the province.

It was launched in Wellington County with safe trade areas being offered at detachments in Aboyne, Rockwood and Teviotdale.

Police advise that online classified and auction sites are often used as a way for thieves to sell stolen property to unknowing buyer victims and they can present a threat to safety.
