OPP have paid out the $50,000 reward to the individual who provided a crucial tip which led to the suspects being arrested to the Lucas Shortreed hit and run case.

In October of 2008, Shortreed was walking home from a party between 10:30-11:30pm on Wellington Road 1 in Alma when he was hit and killed by a vehicle with the driver fleeing the scene.

A tip shared with police led OPP to attend the home of David and Anastasia Halliburton where they located the suspected vehicle in question.

David Haliburton plead guilty last September in court and was given two and half years in prison with Anastasia given six months of house arrest.

OPP Superintendent Jennifer Spurrell says the reward helps show people with information can truly benefit by coming forward.
