OPP and OFATV Highlighting Riding Safety

OPP and the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs are joining together to highlight the importance of riding safely.

18 of the 34 people who died in off road vehicle incidents investigated by OPP were found to not be wearing a helmet.

15 of the fatalities also were linked to being under the influence.

As part of ATV Safety Awareness Week, OPP and the OFATV are promoting safe riding in off roading communities throughout the province.

Last year saw the highest number of off road vehicle deaths in OPP jurisdictions in the last 10 years.

Losing control and speeding were the leading primary causes.
