Ontario to Begin Reopening Process January 31st

Most measures could be lifted by mid-March

Ontario will see a gradual reopening of the province with easing health restrictions, starting at the end of this month.

Premier Doug Ford spoke earlier this morning to announce the reopening of businesses and increased gatherings.

“Starting January 31st, businesses in Ontario will return to 50 per cent capacity. For the first step, arenas, concert venues and theatres will be capped at 500 people. Social gatherings will increase to 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors.” said Ford.

Premier Ford adds so long as the province stays on the right track, more measures will continue to ease on February 21st and continue forward from there on March 14th.

Health Minister Christine Elliot says the decision to loosen restrictions and increase gatherings will ultimately fall on Dr. Moore.

“Final recommendations on moving to each step will continue to be based on the recommendations by the Chief Medical Officer of Health.” said Elliot.

Premier Ford says Ontario is leading the country for those who have received a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
