Ontario tightens health restriction in efforts to battle rising case counts

Some measures come into effect midnight tonight and others first thing Monday

 

The Province announced tightened health restrictions this afternoon and extended the state of emergency and stay-at-home order for an additional 2 weeks.

The new restrictions include:

  • Outdoor gatherings limited to individual households only
    • (effective 12:01am Saturday)
  • Limited non-essential travel between provinces
    • (effective 12:01am Monday)
    • Checkpoints will be setup at borders of Quebec and Manitoba with minimum exceptions for essential travel (work, medical or transport of goods)
  • Golf courses, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball, soccer and baseball diamonds to close
  • Reducing capacity at weddings, funerals and and places of worship
    • (effective 12:01am Monday)
    • Limit capacity at such gatherings to 10 people
  • Shuttering of non-essential construction
  • Capacity at big box stores will be reduced to 25%

Police will also be given the authority to ask anyone outside their residence to indicate their purpose for leaving home and provide their address. This includes the ability to stop vehicles.
