Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced Friday morning the plan to ramp up the speed of Ontario’s vaccine rollout as it continues to move ahead of schedule.

2nd doses for a COVID-19 vaccine will open up Monday May 31st to those aged 80 and up.

During the week of June 14th, residents aged 70-79 will be able to book their 2nd dose.

The time interval of the 2nd dose will go from 16 weeks to as soon as 4 weeks following the first vaccine dose. The change in time will be based on region on the supply of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Under the current plan, its expected all eligible residents will be able to receive their 2nd dose by the end of the summer.

2nd vaccine doses are already being administered to long-term care, retirement homes, First Nations Elder care residents, First Nations populations, high-risk healthcare workers and people with certain health conditions.
