Ontario is investing $700,000 to support four free training projects for the province’s firefighters.
Premier Doug Ford announced on Monday, the training will look at fighting fires for small and rural services in hazardous situations.
“This program provides firefighters with safety and survival training for dangerous situations that can occur on the job such as becoming lost, trapped or injured.” said Ford.
Courses will include boating and water safety, elevator rescue and automobile extraction.
Funding will also include peer support training for suicide awareness and crisis intervention given the mental toll firefighter can come with.
