Ontario is investing $270 million to hire more than 4000 long term care workers by the end of the fiscal year.

Long Term Care Minister Rod Phillips announced the details of the funding on Wednesday to help meet the goal of getting long term care residents an average of four hours of direct care per day by 2025.

Phillips adds the government plans to introduce legislation to make direct care minimum standard in law.

With the funding from the province, officials say this will allow for the average of direct care for long term care residents to three hours per day by March 2022.
