The Ontario Federation of Agriculture took to its Social Media to remind those in and around agriculture that the tell-tale signs of spring are triggering the countdown to this year’s growing season.

They add that as temperatures rise and roadways get busier, they want to remind all motorists to stay alert for farm equipment.

They say be patient, slow down when you see the slow-moving behicle sign and share the road with farm machinery travelling from field-to-field.

They say 74% of farm accidents occur between summer and late harvest. Slow moving vehilces are 3.8 to 4.8 times more likely to be involved in a fatal collision per kilometer than other motor vehicles.

They add that behind the while of that tractor or combine is someone’s loved one, someone’s friend, co-worker, father, mother, daughter, son, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew.

Shaving a few seconds or minutes off your arrival time they say is not worth altering a family’s life forever.
