Ontario is planning to accept 100 immigrants over the next two years with a program allowing foreign entrepreneurs to apply for immigration after they invest at least $200,000 to the economy.
Labour Minister Monte McNaughton says the government will focus on attracting international business to Ontario communities outside the GTA.
The program is expected to cost $6 million but McNaughton adds it will be recovered through fees paid by immigrants who will come to the province to start or buy into business.
The previous Liberal government in Ontario started the program in 2015 but only two immigrant investors were nominated since its use.
