On February 13th at approximately 10:30pm a member of the Wellington County OPP observed an ATV being operated in an aggressive manner without any lights on in the area of Egremont Street in Mount Forest.

The officer attempted to pull over the ATV, however, the suspect refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. The officer discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons.

The ATV operator was later observed going through stop signs and driving erratically on several streets within the town.

At approximately 11:30pm a second OPP officer who was on foot patrol spotted the suspect ATV operator in the area of Normanby Street in Mount Forest. It was reported that the suspect drove directly at the officer. The officer was dragged approximately 100 meters after attempting to arrest the operator.

The officer was not injured. Police later located and arrested the suspect.

A 16 year old youth has been charged with flight from a peace officer, assault of a piece officer, dangerous operation, stunt driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving a motor vehicle with no license.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Youth Court in Guelph at a later date.
