During Monday’s council meeting, North Perth was updated on the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative.
Currently stage 2 of funding is available for the grant. A plan in mind for the grant locally for online platforms for small rural businesses with unreliable or slow connectivity issues.
Community Development Coordinator Kim Kowch says, costs from the municipal end is not required.
“It’s not expected to have an impact on North Perth’s budget. I’m now finding out as I do more research it’s going to probably be upwards to $30,000.’ said Kowch
A stronger internet connection would be looked at different ways to better serve. Council was very much in support of the proposal passing 10-0 as staff will prepare and submit an application for grant process.
