Though a municipal election is taking place for another two years, North Perth council will be taking a look at alternative voting methods for the 2026 election.
Ahead of the 2022 election, a survey was done regarding vote counting equipment, alternative voting methods and voting locations with results showing ranked internet and online voting as the most preferred methods ahead of paper ballots with mail in voting ranked last.
While multiple options remain part of the discussion, as it heads to council currently a recommendation writes for council to approve internet and telephone voting as the voting methods in 2026 election.
