Perth County OPP are reminding residents to again remain vigilant after a North Perth resident was defrauded of $1000 who pretended to be a co-worker.
On May 12th, the victim was contacted by text which had the suspect instruct the victim to purchase $1000 worth of Google Play cards.
Redeeming gift cards are a common tactic of scammers.
OPP are asking residents to be aware of red flags in messages such as ones who do not use your name, have spelling mistakes, messages from banks you have not used and automated messages.
Victims of fraud are asked to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
