The Mayor of the Municipality of North Perth Todd Kasenberg issued a statement this afternoon following an accident in downtown Listowel this morning that saw a transport truck collide with a building in downtown.
He says that he is grateful and relieved in knowing there were no serious injuries reported. Adding that it underscores an issue that he has spoken about from before he was elected.
He says it’s a 70 year issue and earlier councils have worked sporadically on this issue without significant impact. He says this Council is serious about making progress on this issue. He finishes by saying he is committed to getting it done but know that planning, engineering and construction will take some time.
The accident closed down the downtown area of Listowel for hours after a Transport Truck collided with Diana Sweets building just after 8am.
The only injury reported was the driver of the transport who was transported to hospital.
