As its Halloween Night, the North Perth Fire Department is urging safety for all during the night ahead when out trick or treating and when it comes to your decorations.

The fire department says if your child is wearing a mask with their costume, to make sure they eye holes are large enough so they can see, keep any exits clear of decorations so nothing can block an escape route, give children flashlights or glow stick as part of their costume.

The fire department adds decorations are among the first to ignite in 900 reported home fires every year, with two of every five of these blazes being started by a candle.
