While it might have been a bit quiet on word about a dog park in Listowel, work still continues to build the committee and get moving to help make the dog park a reality.

Council in 2022 gave the green light for a dog park location set behind the soccer fields at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex in town which has been highlighted to be in the most densely populated area in the municipality.

To help encourage more volunteers to join the committee and keep spreading the word, a meeting is being held on September 4th at 7pm at the Steve Kerr.

Doug Grant, a member with the North Perth Dog Park Committee says they’ll welcome anyone who wants to show their support for the park.

“We can bring them up to date on where the dog park stands at the moment, talk about fundraising opportunities we have bantered around and see if we can get more volunteers to come out. Really if people want to have a dog park, we have to do it ourselves.” said Grant.

While anyone who wants to volunteer is welcome to join, those with computer skills to help setup and maintain a Facebook page or some help in marketing and promotion are encouraged.

Fundraising will be a key part of making the dog park a reality which has been given a rough estimate of $80,000-$100,000.
