During last nights council meeting, North Perth council considered to enter in with a one year agreement to have a navigator pilot project to introduce a human service navigator.

The City of Stratford has provided funding for the one year pilot project.

The social worker would be hired by the Huron-Perth Family Services and contracted by the municipality.

CAO Kris Snell says the idea could be greatly beneficial as the population grows.

“We have seen significant growth over the number of years. We are seeing an increase in socialite factors, social well being issues with the needs of our vulnerable populations and under resourced families in our community.” said Snell

While councilors, including Julie Behrns were completely in support of a service worker dedicated to North Perth, Julie did say the worker should be on the staff of the public health unit or family health team and not on the municipal staff.

Council voted in favour with a complete 10-0 vote
